Meeting the challenge
The beginning of this year has been tough. With my left eye nearly completely affected by geographic atrophy, vision has been a real struggle. At one point, I even considered giving up on my creative pursuits.
But this morning, something shifted. I picked up my camera, and by patiently focusing on my peripheral vision, I found I could still see through the viewfinder. It gave me hope. My next step will be testing how well my autofocus functions—can I continue using my camera, or will I need to rely on my phone for photography?
While I still need more practice, I feel confident that I can keep going with both photography and digital art. This journey has taught me that even in the face of challenges, there’s always room to adapt, create, and find new ways forward.
